1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to Sorom! These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sorom mobile application, website (sorom.co), and related services (collectively, the "Services") operated by Sorom Inc. ("Sorom," "we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Services.

2. Eligibility

To use Sorom, you must be at least 18 years of age, be legally able to enter into binding agreements, not be prohibited from using the Services under applicable law, and not have been previously banned from our Services. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Creation

To access most features, you must create an account using a valid email address and secure password, or an available third-party sign-in method, and confirm that you meet our minimum-age requirement. Some features require additional profile information and verification before use.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, all activities that occur under your account, and notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Account Accuracy

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You must update your information if it changes.

3.4 Optional Marketing Emails

You may separately choose to receive emails with Sorom app news, updates and travel tips when signing up or through the marketing email setting. Subscribing is optional and is not required to create an account or use the Services. Accepting these Terms does not, by itself, subscribe you. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in a marketing email or the marketing email setting. Unsubscribing does not stop necessary account, security, safety or transaction messages.

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Uses

Sorom is a social travel platform for discovering potential companions, sharing experiences, planning itineraries and communicating with other travelers. Price Check requests and reservation completion are subject to the profile, verification, plan or points requirements shown in the app. The web app supports eligible quote requests and manual solo planning; booking completion and group collaboration continue in the mobile app.

4.2 Prohibited Conduct

Harmful Behavior. You agree not to harass, bully, stalk, threaten, or intimidate other users; post hate speech, discriminatory content, or violent threats; engage in any form of fraud, scams, or deceptive practices; impersonate others or misrepresent your identity; or solicit personal information from minors.

Illegal Activities. You agree not to violate any applicable laws or regulations, facilitate or promote illegal activities, engage in human trafficking or exploitation, or distribute controlled substances.

Platform Abuse. You agree not to create fake or multiple accounts, use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the Services, attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data, interfere with or disrupt the Services, circumvent security measures or rate limits, scrape, harvest, or collect user data, or use the Services for commercial spam or advertising.

Content Violations. You agree not to post sexually explicit or pornographic content, content depicting violence or graphic injury, content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights, malware, viruses, or harmful code, or others' private information without consent.

4.3 Safety Guidelines

When meeting other Sorom users in person, we recommend that you meet in public places initially, inform trusted contacts of your plans, use our Safety Check-in and Meetup PIN features, and trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, leave.

Sorom is not responsible for offline interactions between users. We encourage safe travel practices but cannot guarantee the behavior of other users.

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

"User Content" includes any text, photos, videos, audio, and other materials you post, upload, or share through the Services. You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting content, you grant Sorom a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, and display your content, reproduce and modify content for technical purposes such as resizing images, and share content according to your privacy settings. This license ends when you delete your content or account, except for content shared with others, which may persist in their copies.

5.2 Content Standards

You represent and warrant that your content is original or you have rights to share it, does not violate any third party's rights, complies with these Terms and applicable laws, and does not contain false or misleading information.

5.3 Content Moderation

We may, but are not obligated to, review content before or after posting, remove content that violates these Terms, suspend or terminate accounts for violations, and report illegal content to authorities.

6. Travel Matching

6.1 Matching System

Sorom's matching system connects users based on personality compatibility using the Big Five assessment, travel preferences and styles, activity interests, and availability and destination preferences.

6.2 Live Connexions

Live Connexions allows users to share their real-time location with nearby travelers. Participation is always opt-in. Sessions are time-limited (15 minutes to 4 hours). Location is only visible to other active Live Connexions users within your set radius. You can end your session at any time. Monthly and Annual subscribers have access to extended session durations.

6.3 Match Limitations

Free Users receive 7 match requests per week, a maximum of 5 active matches per week, and pending match requests that expire after 48 hours. Monthly Subscribers receive 25 match requests per week, unlimited active matches, and pending match requests that expire after 7 days. Annual Subscribers receive unlimited match requests, unlimited active matches, and no automatic pending-request expiration. These expiry periods apply to pending requests; they do not describe inactivity-based termination of an accepted match. For the Free weekly cap of 5, the request-sending check counts pending and accepted matches created during the current calendar week, including applicable group-match records. It is not a limit of 5 accepted matches across your account history. Separate trust-eligibility rules can block requests; they do not multiply the stated weekly allowances.

6.4 Disclaimer

Compatibility scores are suggestions, not guarantees. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of other users' profiles, the safety of in-person meetings, or successful travel companionship. Users are responsible for their own safety and judgment.

7. Subscription Plans

7.1 Subscription Tiers

Sorom offers two paid subscription tiers in addition to the free tier:

7.2 Pricing & Billing

Subscription pricing is displayed at time of purchase. Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. Monthly subscriptions renew each month; Annual subscriptions renew each year.

7.3 Free Trial

If offered, free trials convert to paid subscriptions automatically unless cancelled, require cancellation before trial ends to avoid charges, and are limited to one per user or payment method.

7.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's app store settings. On iOS, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Sorom. On Android, go to Google Play → Subscriptions → Sorom. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial periods.

7.5 Refund Policy

Refund requests are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective policies. Sorom does not process refunds directly.

8. Booking Services

8.1 Price Check & Booking Services

Sorom’s Price Check service lets eligible users submit hotel, transfer and package prices found through third-party online travel agencies. Our travel agents review submissions and may return an available quote; a matched or lower price is not guaranteed. Requests and reservations are subject to the profile, verification, plan or points requirements shown in the app. The web app can submit eligible requests, while reservation completion continues in the mobile app. Payments are processed through Stripe. Sorom facilitates bookings through travel agents and is not the direct accommodation or service provider. Review the total price, inclusions, taxes, fees and cancellation conditions before accepting. Booking terms, cancellations and refunds depend on the specific reservation, and availability is not confirmed until booking confirmation.

8.2 Email Import

Monthly and Annual subscribers may use the Email Import feature to forward booking confirmation emails to a unique Sorom email address (e.g., username_xxxx@trips.sorom.co). Forwarded emails are processed by third-party services (Mailgun for inbound email handling and OpenAI for content parsing) to extract booking details and create itinerary items automatically. Monthly subscribers may import up to 10 emails per day; Annual subscribers may import up to 20 emails per day. By using this feature, you consent to the processing of your forwarded email content by these services. You are responsible for only forwarding emails you have the right to share. Sorom is not responsible for parsing errors or incomplete data extraction. Your unique forwarding address is generated on request and may not be changed once created.

8.3 Points & Rewards

Points are earned through referrals, eligible bookings, and approved Interesting Places submissions (50 points per approved submission). Points expire after 18 months of inactivity in the points account, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred. Sorom reserves the right to modify the points program.

9. Interesting Places

9.1 Feature Description

Interesting Places is a community-driven discovery feature that allows users to submit, browse, and interact with points of interest across 13 categories. Users can submit places, contribute community photos, leave comments, bookmark places, mark places as visited, and add places to their itineraries.

9.2 Submission Guidelines

When submitting an Interesting Place, you must provide accurate descriptions and location information. Photos must be original or you must have rights to share them. Submissions must not contain promotional content, spam, or misleading information. You may have up to 5 pending submissions at a time. Community photos added to existing places must be relevant to the place and original.

9.3 Moderation

All Interesting Places submissions and community photos are subject to moderation review before publication. Sorom reserves the right to reject, remove, or modify submissions that do not meet quality or content standards. Rejected submissions may be resubmitted with corrections. Approved places are subject to annual re-review.

9.4 Points & Attribution

Users earn 50 Sorom Points for each approved Interesting Places submission. Your name is attributed to places you submit and community photos you contribute. This attribution is visible to all users and cannot be removed while the content remains published.

10. Itineraries

10.1 Itinerary Features

Users can create, share, and collaborate on travel itineraries with features including flight, lodging, and activity tracking; participant collaboration; expense splitting; document storage for Monthly and Annual subscribers; and export functionality.

Itineraries may contain AI-generated content produced by the AI Trip Builder, and its in-trip daily planning features may propose additions or changes to your itinerary that are applied only after you confirm them; AI-generated suggestions may contain errors and should be verified before you rely on them.

10.2 Itinerary Retention

Eligible Free-user itineraries are scheduled for removal from active use 12 calendar months after the trip end date. This automatic schedule does not apply to itineraries without an end date, linked to a journal, or owned by an eligible Monthly or Annual subscriber. An eligible warning may be sent within the 48 hours before the removal date; delivery is not guaranteed. Removal uses a scheduled soft delete, so it may occur after the deadline and does not mean immediate erasure of every stored record or backup. Manual deletion, account deletion and other applicable retention rules still apply.

10.3 Flight Information

Flight schedules and status are provided through third-party APIs including FlightStats/Cirium (flight schedules and status) and Duffel (flight price search). We do not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Always verify flight details with your airline.

11. Intellectual Property

11.1 Sorom's Rights

The Services, including design, features, content, logos, and trademarks, are owned by Sorom Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Services without permission.

11.2 Feedback

If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Services, you grant Sorom the right to use such feedback without compensation or attribution.

12. Third-Party Services

We rely on infrastructure providers to operate the Services, including Supabase for hosting and database infrastructure, Cloudflare for content delivery and media storage, and Mailgun for email sending and inbound email handling. These providers run the Services on our behalf, and their handling of your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

The Services may also integrate with or link to third-party services including Google Places for location search, Google Routes for transit routing, Mapbox for maps and geocoding services, OpenWeatherMap for weather data, FlightStats/Cirium for flight schedules and status, Duffel for flight price search, Stripe for payment processing, Medallion/Authenticate for identity verification, RevenueCat for subscription management, Vonage for SMS notifications for safety features, OpenAI for AI travel advisory services, Tavily for web search services (events, festivals, visa requirements, travel advisories), and PostHog for product analytics. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and policies. Sorom is not responsible for third-party services.

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and share your information.

14. Account Suspension & Termination

15. Disclaimers

15.1 Service Availability

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

15.2 User Interactions

SOROM IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, WHETHER ONLINE OR OFFLINE. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS. WE ENCOURAGE CAUTION AND GOOD JUDGMENT.

15.3 Travel Risks

Travel involves inherent risks. Sorom does not guarantee the safety of any travel arrangements, destinations, or activities. You assume all risks associated with travel.

16. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOROM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. SOROM'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SOROM IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sorom Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses including legal fees arising from your use of the Services, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

18. Dispute Resolution

18.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@sorom.co to attempt informal resolution. Many disputes can be resolved this way.

18.2 Arbitration Agreement

For users in the United States, any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court. This arbitration agreement does not preclude you from bringing issues to the attention of government agencies.

18.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AGREE TO RESOLVE DISPUTES ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.

18.4 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

19. General Provisions

19.1 Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

19.2 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sorom regarding the Services.

19.3 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

19.4 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

19.5 Assignment

You may not assign your rights under these Terms. Sorom may assign its rights to any successor or affiliate.

20. Advertiser Disclosure

Sorom earns an affiliate commission for anyone making a purchase, or approving through some links available on this website. This compensation may impact how and where links appear on this site. We work to provide the best publicly available offers to our users. We frequently update them, but this site does not include all available offers.
