1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to Sorom! These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sorom mobile application, website (sorom.co), and related services (collectively, the "Services") operated by Sorom Inc. ("Sorom," "we," "us," or "our").

2. Eligibility

To use Sorom, you must be at least 18 years of age, be legally able to enter into binding agreements, not be prohibited from using the Services under applicable law, and not have been previously banned from our Services. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Creation

To access most features, you must create an account by providing a valid email address, a secure password, your date of birth, and your name.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, all activities that occur under your account, and notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Account Accuracy

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You must update your information if it changes.

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Uses

Sorom is a social travel platform designed to connect solo travelers with compatible travel companions, share travel experiences through journals and moments, plan and coordinate trips through itineraries, communicate with other travelers, and book travel accommodations as a Premium feature.

4.2 Prohibited Conduct

Harmful Behavior. You agree not to harass, bully, stalk, threaten, or intimidate other users; post hate speech, discriminatory content, or violent threats; engage in any form of fraud, scams, or deceptive practices; impersonate others or misrepresent your identity; or solicit personal information from minors.

Illegal Activities. You agree not to violate any applicable laws or regulations, facilitate or promote illegal activities, engage in human trafficking or exploitation, or distribute controlled substances.

Platform Abuse. You agree not to create fake or multiple accounts, use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the Services, attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data, interfere with or disrupt the Services, circumvent security measures or rate limits, scrape, harvest, or collect user data, or use the Services for commercial spam or advertising.

Content Violations. You agree not to post sexually explicit or pornographic content, content depicting violence or graphic injury, content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights, malware, viruses, or harmful code, or others' private information without consent.

4.3 Safety Guidelines

When meeting other Sorom users in person, we recommend that you meet in public places initially, inform trusted contacts of your plans, use our Safety Check-in and Meetup PIN features, and trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, leave.

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

"User Content" includes any text, photos, videos, audio, and other materials you post, upload, or share through the Services. You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting content, you grant Sorom a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, and display your content, reproduce and modify content for technical purposes such as resizing images, and share content according to your privacy settings. This license ends when you delete your content or account, except for content shared with others, which may persist in their copies.

5.2 Content Standards

You represent and warrant that your content is original or you have rights to share it, does not violate any third party's rights, complies with these Terms and applicable laws, and does not contain false or misleading information.

5.3 Content Moderation

We may, but are not obligated to, review content before or after posting, remove content that violates these Terms, suspend or terminate accounts for violations, and report illegal content to authorities.

6. Travel Matching

6.1 Matching System

Sorom's matching system connects users based on personality compatibility using the Big Five assessment, travel preferences and styles, activity interests, and availability and destination preferences.

6.2 Live Connexions

Live Connexions allows users to share their real-time location with nearby travelers. Participation is always opt-in. Sessions are time-limited (15 minutes to 4 hours). Location is only visible to other active Live Connexions users within your set radius. You can end your session at any time. Premium users have access to extended session durations.

6.3 Match Limitations

Free Users receive 7 match requests per week, a maximum of 5 active matches at a time, and matches that expire after 7 days of inactivity. Premium Users receive unlimited match requests, unlimited active matches, and no match expiration.

7. Premium Subscription

7.1 Subscription Options

Sorom offers premium subscriptions with enhanced features including unlimited matching, advanced compatibility insights, flight tracking, Price Check booking services, identity verification through Medallion, Maya AI Travel Advisor, points and rewards benefits, extended Live ConneXions sessions, SMS safety alerts, and offline itinerary access.

7.2 Pricing & Billing

Subscription pricing is displayed at time of purchase. Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change.

7.3 Free Trial

If offered, free trials convert to paid subscriptions automatically unless cancelled, require cancellation before trial ends to avoid charges, and are limited to one per user or payment method.

7.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's app store settings. On iOS, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Sorom. On Android, go to Google Play → Subscriptions → Sorom. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial periods.

7.5 Refund Policy

Refund requests are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective policies. Sorom does not process refunds directly.

8. Booking Services

8.1 Price Check & Booking Services

Sorom offers a Price Check service where users can submit prices found on third-party online travel agencies (OTAs) for hotels, transfers, and packages. Our travel agents review submissions and respond with matched or better pricing. Free users may submit Price Check requests and browse agent quotes. Premium subscribers may complete reservations and pay securely via Stripe, and earn points on eligible bookings. Sorom facilitates bookings through travel agents and is not the direct accommodation or service provider. Booking terms, cancellation policies, and refunds are subject to the specific reservation. Prices shown may not include all taxes and fees. Availability is not guaranteed until booking confirmation.

8.2 Points & Rewards

Points are earned through referrals, eligible bookings, and approved Interesting Places submissions (50 points per approved submission). Points expire after 18 months of inactivity, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred. Sorom reserves the right to modify the points program.

9. Interesting Places

9.1 Feature Description

Interesting Places is a community-driven discovery feature that allows users to submit, browse, and interact with points of interest across 12 categories. Users can submit places, contribute community photos, leave comments, bookmark places, mark places as visited, and add places to their itineraries.

9.2 Submission Guidelines

When submitting an Interesting Place, you must provide accurate descriptions and location information. Photos must be original or you must have rights to share them. Submissions must not contain promotional content, spam, or misleading information. You may have up to 5 pending submissions at a time. Community photos added to existing places must be relevant to the place and original.

9.3 Moderation

All Interesting Places submissions and community photos are subject to moderation review before publication. Sorom reserves the right to reject, remove, or modify submissions that do not meet quality or content standards. Rejected submissions may be resubmitted with corrections. Approved places are subject to annual re-review.

9.4 Points & Attribution

Users earn 50 Sorom Points for each approved Interesting Places submission. Your name is attributed to places you submit and community photos you contribute. This attribution is visible to all users and cannot be removed while the content remains published.

10. Itineraries

9.1 Itinerary Features

Users can create, share, and collaborate on travel itineraries with features including flight, lodging, and activity tracking; participant collaboration; expense splitting; document storage for Premium users; and export functionality.

9.2 Itinerary Retention

For Free Users, itineraries are automatically deleted 72 hours after the trip end date, with a warning sent 48 hours before. For Premium Users, itineraries are retained indefinitely unless manually deleted.

9.3 Flight Information

Flight schedules and status are provided through third-party APIs including Amadeus and Flightstats. We do not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Always verify flight details with your airline.

11. Intellectual Property

11.1 Sorom's Rights

The Services, including design, features, content, logos, and trademarks, are owned by Sorom Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Services without permission.

11.2 Feedback

If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Services, you grant Sorom the right to use such feedback without compensation or attribution.

12. Third-Party Services

The Services may integrate with or link to third-party services including Google Places for location search, Amadeus and Flightstats for flight data, Stripe for payment processing, Medallion/Authenticate for identity verification, RevenueCat for subscription management, Vonage for SMS notifications for safety features, OpenAI for AI travel advisory services, and PostHog for product analytics. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and policies. Sorom is not responsible for third-party services.

13. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and share your information.

14. Account Suspension & Termination

14.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account Management → Delete Account. Deletion:

• Removes your profile and content
• Cancels any active subscriptions (refunds per app store policy)
• Is irreversible after processing

14.2 By Sorom

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Receive excessive reports from other users
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
• Provide false information

Automatic Suspensions:

• 25+ reports in 3 months: 24-hour suspension
• 100+ reports in 6 months: 7-day suspension
• Severe violations: Permanent ban

We may also terminate accounts for inactivity or discontinuation of Services.

15. Disclaimers

15.1 Service Availability

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

15.2 User Interactions

SOROM IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, WHETHER ONLINE OR OFFLINE. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS. WE ENCOURAGE CAUTION AND GOOD JUDGMENT.

15.3 Travel Risks

Travel involves inherent risks. Sorom does not guarantee the safety of any travel arrangements, destinations, or activities. You assume all risks associated with travel.

16. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOROM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. SOROM'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SOROM IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sorom Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses including legal fees arising from your use of the Services, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

18. Dispute Resolution

18.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@sorom.co to attempt informal resolution. Many disputes can be resolved this way.

18.2 Arbitration Agreement

For users in the United States, any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court. This arbitration agreement does not preclude you from bringing issues to the attention of government agencies.

18.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AGREE TO RESOLVE DISPUTES ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.

18.4 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

19. General Provisions

19.1 Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

19.2 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sorom regarding the Services.

19.3 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

19.4 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

19.5 Assignment

You may not assign your rights under these Terms. Sorom may assign its rights to any successor or affiliate.

20. Advertiser Disclosure

Sorom earns an affiliate commission for anyone making a purchase, or approving through some links available on this website. This compensation may impact how and where links appear on this site. We work to provide the best publicly available offers to our users. We frequently update them, but this site does not include all available offers.
